Akshat has been appointed as one of the Governing Board (GB) Members and Jury Member of Joint Acceleration Program (JAP) of Indian Academy of Entrepreneurship® (IAEGlocal) with effect from October 2020.
He carries a hands-on and well diversified experience of building and scaling businesses. In his current role as co-founder of ePayLater, he has led the company to become one of India’s largest players in the space of retailer credit, a $500 Bn market. ePayLater is a strategic partner of global majors such as Wal-Mart, Metro AG and Reliance. The company is also credited with the launch of India’s 1st Digital credit card, that won it a host of coveted awards and recognitions including “India’s most innovative FinTech” by Govt of India.
Akshat has led successful rounds of investments from reputed names such as GMO Japan, ICICI Bank, Marae Investments (Netherlands) into the company. He is an active member of industrial associations like FICCI and Assocham and regularly contributes with his inputs towards policy making. He was recognized as “Entrepreneur of the Year” and awarded “40 under 40” by BusinessWorld in 2017. As a proponent of technology driven change, he led a successful initiative for mass digitization of retailers in 2019 and his efforts towards solving the problem of air pollution in Delhi through an innovative air purifier (patent granted) also won him widespread appreciation. He loves coding and was recently declared World No 1 in Python by HackerRank, a web community of 7 Million engineers across the globe.
In his personal time, he likes to read history and philosophy. His opinions on subjects ranging from technology, financial markets, entrepreneurship etc. have been featured by over 100 media publications, both domestic and international. He is a visiting Faculty to IIM Sambhalpur and
is regularly invited by other prestigious institutions for leadership talks. His passions also include writing short stories, technology blogs and staying fit.
Akshat started his professional journey in 2007, and prior to founding ePayLater in 2015, he worked with Technology doyens – TransUnion, SAP, IBM and Oracle in India and UAE. He has also done short term advisory assignments with a few organizations in Germany. His academic credentials include an MBA degree from Management Development Institute (MDI – GGN) and B.Tech in Computer Science.
